CREATIVE INKING BLOG HOP - Sketch Challenge

Welcome to the Creative Inking Blog Hop. This month is a sketch challenge - and I love working from a sketch. There are so many times I have an idea in my head, but it just doesn't work out in reality. That's when I turn to sketches.

The sketch is simple, yet contains all the visual elements necessary to create a great card:

I'm a big fan of Halloween, so here's my card. I used the "Cauldron Bubble" and "Spooky Treats" stamp sets from the new Holiday Catalog.  I loved the designer papers that coordinate with this set  named "Toil and Trouble".

The sentiment is embossed with White Embossing Powder on Basic Black cardstock. The bats are stamped (from the Spooky Treats stamp set) and cut out with the coordinating punch.

I used the Granny Apple Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon and stamped the cauldron with Memento Ink on watercolor cardstock.  I'm really loving the watercolor pencils! I mounted the cauldron on Whisper White cardstock with the Stitched Label Framelits and then mounted that on a circle of Granny Apple Green cardstock. Since I love dimension, I popped the cauldron and then the entire circle onto the card front. The card base is also Granny Apple Green cardstock.

Here's the inside of the card. Isn't that little frog adorable?

I did the cauldron a little differently on this card. Same sketch, same papers, but I stamped the cauldron on Basic Black Cardstock with Versamark. Then I embossed with White Embossing Powder. I colored the fire and goop (not sure what else to call it) and fussy cut. It really gave it a nice look...but not for those who shy away from fussy cutting.

I hope you enjoyed my card. Take the sketch and make yourself a card (or two, or three)!  Now let's go see what the talented Lori Mueller has for us. Just click on the "Next" button below.

Happy Stamping!

  2. I love this card! Can you tell me what punch or thinlet you used for the Granny Green Apple circle? I have a starburst punch, but it's not that big.
